Warren County is a semi-rural community spanning 429 square miles, located approximately 50 miles west of St. Louis along Interstate 70. Warren County is currently one of the fastest growing counties in Missouri with a population estimate of 32,513 in 2010. The Sheriff’s Department employs 68 people, and is housed in a new state of the art Courthouse and 150 bed correctional facility. Career advancement is possible within department divisions such as patrol, detective bureau, drug task force, public relations, special operations, court security, bailiff, records clerk, corrections, corrections dietary, and corrections medical.
The selection process consists of a written examination, oral board interview, Sheriff’s interview, computer voice stress analysis, drug screen, medical examination, and a background investigation.
Applicants for position of Deputy Sheriff must be POST certified prior to testing. Interested applicants need to submit a resume, a letter of interest, or a completed employment pre-application. This information can be faxed, mailed, or dropped off directly at the Sheriff’s Office. All persons applying will be contacted via telephone to confirm test dates, or any other relevant information. The completed personal history statement must be submitted at the time of the initial interview or test date.
